JOINED Boro in summer 2003 from Glasgow Rangers where he had held a similar position for the last nine years.

Before working at Ibrox was deputy head of the National Rehabilitation and Sports Injury Clinic at Lilleshall.

He worked with the England youth football team and accompanied the Great Britain men's gymnastics teams at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona.

While at Lilleshall, he helped players from various clubs recover from long-term injuries.

These included Alan Shearer, who needed specialist rehabilitation following his cruciate repair operation as a Blackburn player.
