Boro Sign Spurs Full-Back Kyle
ENGLAND Under-21 full-back Kyle Naughton has today joined Boro on loan from Tottenham until the end of June.
The 21-year-old, who joined Spurs from Sheffield United for an undisclosed fee last July, trained with his new team-mates this morning.
"Hopefully I can get a couple of games and help Middlesbrough start moving up the table," he told mfc.co.uk this afternoon. "I had a pretty good season in the Championship with Sheffield United last season so hopefully I can carry that on now with Middlesbrough.
"The lads have already made me feel very welcome here and all I really want to do now is play football"
Naughton is Boro's fifth new signing during the January transfer window following the arrivals of Barry Robson, Willo Flood, Chris Killen and fellow loanee Stephen McManus.
Naughton was included in the PFA Championship Team of the Year in 2008-09, his only season of first team football with hometown club Sheffield United.
He initially played at right-back but also made appearances in midfield before ending the season at left-back.
Since his summer move to White Hart Lane, Naughton has struggled for first team opportunities, making only one substitute appearance in the Premier League and another in the FA Cup, while also playing the full 90 minutes of Spurs' 5-1 Carling Cup win at Doncaster in August.
