JOE BENNETT is a promising left-sided player who is pushing for a regular first team squad place after coming through the Academy.
Born and brought up in Rochdale, Joe signed his first professional contract with the club in summer 2008 and is comfortable playing anywhere on the left, although he usually operates as a left-back.
He secured a two-year professional deal after a number of impressive performances in pre-season 2008 and for the Reserves.
His progress continued during the 2008/09 season and after appearing in the summer Algarve tournament he was named on the bench for a number of Barclays Premier League fixtures.
He made his first team debut away to West Ham United in the final game of the 2008-09 season and he was handed a new, three-year deal in August 2009.
Played a leading role as England reached the final of the UEFA European U19 Championships in Ukraine in the summer of 2009.
